Arsenal Boss Arteta Issues Out Warning To Those Comparing Him & Lampard To Klopp & Guardiola

The Arsenal boss thinks it a bit early to compare his and the Chelsea manager's work to that of the Liverpool and Manchester City coaches
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has dismissed the notion he and Frank Lampard could be considered the next Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp.

Arteta and Lampard go head to head at Wembley on Saturday in the FA Cup final, hoping to win the first trophies of their coaching careers.

Arsenal managed only to finish eighth in the Premier League this season but have won praise for positive signs of progress in their play, most notably in the FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City.

"About Frank as a player, absolutely top," Arteta said on Friday. "I think the consistency he was able to play for that many years in the position he plays at such a big club and doing what he did was incredible. Big credit to him on that.

"As a manager, he has shown since Derby the kind of ambition and person he has and the way he encourages his team to play. We are both young, both trying to learn our position so I wouldn't like to compare to the two managers you mention."

"It generates trust when you're winning titles," he said. "It generates moments when together you go through good emotions. It brings everyone together, you have memories, there's a lot of things about winning a trophy that is so positive for any group and when you're in a process it makes it even more important. We have a great opportunity, so let's go for it."

"It's always good connections when these moments arrive," said Arteta. "You can see with Oli in the last few months, how he is performing, the amount of goals he is scoring for them. He has the experience in finals as well.

"In the case of David, such a special day for him to play his former club. Hopefully, he can do the performance he did in the semi-final against City."

"I'm not surprised because I know Oli and he's a fighter," he said. "When he played for Arsenal, he had some difficult moments, but he always reacted.

"Comparing him with the greatest is like always: they've done it, they did it for long periods, they were really successful at the club, so any comparison with them is always difficult. I'm glad he is doing really well and hopefully tomorrow he won't do that well."

Man City £40m Bid For Bournemouth Defender, Nathan Ake Accepted

Relegated Bournemouth have accepted a £40m bid from Manchester City for defender Nathan Ake.

It is understood there is an additional £1m in add-ons as part of the deal.

Netherlands international Ake, 25, joined Bournemouth in 2017 for a club record fee and has made 121 appearances for the Cherries.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been targeting at least one centre-back to bolster his squad next season and Ake has been a target for a while.

Bournemouth were relegated from the Premier League after finishing 18th, while Manchester City finished runners-up.

It was understood Ake would leave Bournemouth this summer whether Eddie Howe's men stayed in the top flight or not. However, their relegation was the trigger for City to open talks.

Ake, who played 29 of Bournemouth's 38 games in the Premier League this season, has been capped 13 times by his country and has previously played club football for Chelsea, Watford and Reading.

Last year, Bournemouth sold defender Tyrone Mings to Aston Villa for £20m which is currently the highest fee received for a player by the Cherries.

Kepa Arrizabalaga Fears Fa Cup Final Might Be His Last Game For Chelsea

The 25-year-old, the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, has struggled for form throughout the season and was once again dropped by manager Frank Lampard for last weekend’s must-win final game of the season against Wolves. Veteran backup Willy Caballero was brought in instead and kept a clean sheet, though Chelsea are looking to sign a new number one during the summer transfer window.

Now The Sun report that Kepa fears he has played his last game for Chelsea and is not convinced he can win back the faith of Lampard.

The Blues boss will stick with Caballero between the sticks in the FA Cup final on Saturday, too, with the Argentine having performed well in the competition so far, including against Manchester United in the semi-final. Kepa would have expected to come back into the side for the second leg of Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, but again Caballero is expected to get the nod.

With Chelsea already linked to a host of the world’s best goalkeepers, Kepa is resigned to being offloaded by Lampard this summer – though it remains to be seen if Chelsea will be able to find a buyer, with a loan also mooted. When asked to explain the decision to drop Kepa last time out, Lampard said: ‘It’s just a choice. Kepa has had some difficult times so I’m playing Willy.’

The west London club are believed to have identified Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak as their number one choice to replace Kepa permanently, though the Spanish side will only let him leave if his release clause is met. With Chelsea also looking to strike a £75m deal for Kai Havertz, it seems unlikely they would be able to spend £100m on Oblak too, with cheaper alternatives such as Ajax’s Andre Onana and Burnley’s Nick Pope being discussed.

Ben Chilwell Plans To Tell Leicester This Week That He Wants To Quit For Chelsea

Stamford Bridge boss Frank Lampard is keen to add England left-back Chilwell to his squad for next term.

Chilwell, 23, has been at Leicester since aged 12 and is under contract until 2024.

It was understood that the attacking full-back sees his long-term future at Chelsea.

His decision is not just a reflection on Leicester finishing fifth and missing out on Champions League qualification behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

His intention to move is based upon where he sees himself playing for the next five-six years.

Chilwell also wants to nail down the England left-back spot going into next summer's rescheduled Euros after 11 caps so far.

His decision will be a blow to Foxes' boss Brendan Rodgers but not necessarily a surprise.

Rodgers said recently he was “relaxed” about the future of Chilwell.

It was precisely the same phrase Rodgers used last summer when Manchester United came calling for Harry Maguire.

Maguire subsequently got his move for £80million, a world-record fee for a defender.

Chelsea will have to dig very deep as well to persuade Leicester to part with Chilwell too.

The Foxes' Thai owners are hugely wealthy and under no pressure to sell.

But the club is moving to a new £100million training ground this year and want to utilise their academy talent under Rodgers.

Timo Werner Ready To Lead Chelsea's 'New Era' As He Begins Training

Timo Werner says he hopes to lead Chelsea's new era and credits head coach Frank Lampard for bringing him to the club.

The German international flew to London on Sunday following his £45m transfer from RB Leipzig, which was agreed last month.

Werner watched as Chelsea beat Wolves 2-0 to secure Champions League football for next season before beginning 'pre-season' training on Monday.

The 24-year-old, who joined in with his new team-mates on Tuesday, says he looked up to the likes of Lampard, Didier Drogba and Petr Cech and hopes to be part of an exciting future at the club.

He told Chelsea's website: "I know of the players before when they won the Champions League with Drogba, with my new manager Frank Lampard, Petr Cech as the technical advisor.

"It is like a little dream for me but I want to become, not the same player like them, but I want to be part of a new era here so I will play to try to give my best."

Werner also said Lampard's style of play and personality was a big reason why he chose to leave Germany for the Premier League.

"He (Lampard) was the main point," he added. "We talked a lot about things like system, like how he wants to play and sees me playing, and how the system fits to me.

"He is a really nice guy who not only told me what he wants from me as a player because he wants to help me as a guy. He knows me now a little bit better and it fits very good between us and now I am happy to be here."

China recorded 57 local Covid-19 cases on Sunday, the highest number the country has seen since it brought the coronavirus largely under control in March, according to figures released by the National Health Commission on Monday.

Out of the new locally transmitted cases, 41 were found in the far western region of Xinjiang, where the coronavirus resurfaced on July 15 after nearly five months of no new cases. The remaining cases were discovered in the country's northeast, including 14 in Liaoning province and two in Jilin province.

The country's health officials say Sunday's figure is the highest number of local infections the country has reported since March 6.

On Sunday, China also recorded four imported cases and 44 asymptomatic infections. However, the country does not include asymptomatic cases in its overall tally of confirmed infections.

As of Monday, July 27, China has reported a total of 83,981 confirmed cases, including 4,634 deaths, according to the NHC.
